- Kutztown
Fire Co. Recognized
The Kutztown Fire Company recently achieved the State Fire Commissioner’s highest training honor. The volunteer department’s active members have been certified in the Pennsylvania Participating Department Certification Program.
|
|
The purpose of the Professional Certification Program is to identify and recognize fire service personnel whose accomplishments in training and education meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards. The National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) standards for Fire Service Professional Qualification identify the minimum requirements for a person at a particular level of progression.
These standards are enforced in most states. However, in Pennsylvania it is a voluntary program. Kutztown members took the initiative to meet and then exceed the minimum requirements and are now proudly serving as a role model in the state with many of its members certified. For Kutztown to be one of only a small number of the 2400 volunteer departments in the state to achieve this honor, it proves the commitment the volunteers have to protecting the residents of the Kutztown area.

FIRE COMPANY WINS $5000 DRAWING FOR FIRE EQUIPMENT
October 10,
2007 - Several months ago Kutztown Fire Chief Troy Arndt filled out the Fire and Emergency Manufacturers and Services Association 3rd Annual Survey online at
Firehouse.com. Little did Arndt know his name would be drawn to receive $5000 worth of equipment for his fire department. While there has been no decision on what equipment will be purchased, the items chosen will certainly enhance our safety efforts. The Fire and Emergency Manufacturers and Services Association is the trade association for the fire and emergency services industry, representing approximately 150 manufacturers and service providers.

Firefighters Help Firefighters in North Dakota
On Sunday
November 5, 2006 members of the truck crew met with members of the
North Dakota Fire Commission here in Kutztown and donated to them
used fire equipment that had been retired from service. Though no
longer of value to us, this equipment is like gold to the many
depressed fire departments in ND. ND is an economically
depressed state and fire departments are usually last on the totem
pole of agencies in line for funding. The mission of the fire
commission is to get this used equipment into the hands of fire
departments in need in ND. Many departments are using equipment that
is 60 years old. Unbelievable! Kudos to Kutztown!
