Thursday December 13, 2007 - Motor Vehicle Accident w/ Entrapment - I78WB MM40

Troopers gave this account of the I-78 crash:
Christine Pettiford was a passenger in a car driven by Bobbie J. Pettiford, 50, of Stone Mountain, Ga.
Bobbie Pettiford lost control trying to avoid a car entering the westbound lane from the Route 737 entrance ramp about 2 p.m.
Pettiford’s car rammed a tractor-trailer driven by Michael Wallace, 55, of Falling Waters, W.Va.  The car then spun and veered into the left lane, where it was struck on the passenger side by a tractor-trailer driven by Bill J. Willis, no age available, of Syracuse, N.Y.  Christine Pettiford, who wore a seat belt, was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, near Allentown, where she was pronounced dead 3:22 p.m., according to the Lehigh County coroner’s office.  An autopsy was planned for this morning. The cause and manner of death have not been determined.  Neither tractor-trailer driver was injured.  -- READING EAGLE
