Overheating MetEd Power Generator is cause for alarm.   Minor injuries reported.

 

Met-Ed officials say the heat and humidity are partly to blame for an overheated generator at their substation near Lyons in Richmond Township. 

Dozens of firefighters from neighboring companies responded to the scene around 4pm and began spraying thousands of gallons of water to help

cool the generator.  Tankers shuttled water to the scene.  Fire police directed traffic while Fleetwood-Lyons Road was shut down.
Met-Ed stated that while there we no electrical 'overload', cutting back on electric use is still helpful.
